1889 The local Liberal Association passed a motion of no confidence in Hugh Watt (due to a difference of views on a number of major issues between him and the Association) and asked him to resign. He informed the Association that he intended to stand in the next General Election. They then adopted Robert Cunninghame Graham as their prospective parliamentary candidate. | |||||
